There is so much false information and marketing gimmicks being spread around the internet lately. Mostly all of this is to hype up the product and try to sell essentially the same item for more expensive. The hype about diamonds is unreal and is mostly spread my diamond dealers to hype a stone that people get killed for and sell it for upwards of $20,000 a carat.
Same as there is silver a metal there is no such thing as lab silver or man made silver. When it comes to diamonds there is one kind of “real” diamond, a natural earth mined stone. These stones have been formed by carbon crystallization over millions of years. Everything else is not a real diamond.
Lab diamonds, CZ, synthetic diamonds, man made diamonds, cultured diamonds, etc is ALL the same thing. It’s when humans try to replicate the diamonds found in nature. AA cz is same as AAAAA cz.
We at Italiano Silver Inc use man made stones (artificial diamonds) for a few reasons. First we don’t believe in supporting the natural diamond trade which enslaved and kills thousands of people every year. Secondly with small stones it’s almost impossible even for a jeweler to tell the difference. Lastly we can’t justify paying $300-1000/carat for the SAME look as something that we can sell for $10 a carat.
At www.italiansilver925.com we use the best man made diamonds. Why are they the best? Because they have the best cut so they in essence look like VVS1 D color diamonds. They don’t scratch with a knife and are very hard. Unless you a jeweler (a good one at that) you won’t know the difference from a $10,000 Zales diamonds.
Now when it comes to diamond testers, it’s also a gimmick. A $10 diamond tester one buys on eBay will show our stones as “diamond” and often times a real diamond as fake. They are unreliable machines. The only thing that can “fool” a diamond tester is moissanite which is also a earth mined mineral. We do not use moissanite as it usually gives a rainbow effect to the stones and actually doesn’t give same shine as real diamonds.
Buy jewelry because you love the piece and not because Rick Ross raps about VVS on YouTube. In reality small diamond stones used for micropave jewelry is a marketing gimmick. Take them to a pawnshop you will not get even a dollar for the tiny stones. The only diamonds that hold SOME resale value are 1ct + certified stones.
In summary purely from an investment standpoint invest in precious metals such as gold and silver, something that holds value and not shiny stones just because some rapper mentioned them. And please please please don’t fall for marketing gimmicks of “lab diamonds” or “cultured diamonds” it’s the same as cz made by humans.
